L’installation met en évidence le dialogue entre l’immatérialité de la lumière et la présence physique de l’architecture. Le projet s’appuie pour cela sur un dispositif qui empêche les rayonnements solaires de s’en échapper : un trou noir. La dynamique noire et élancée de l’objet entre en résonance avec le lieu. La cour est plongée dans l’ombre du Vortex. L’installation absorbe la lumière du jour et la restitue par l’intermédiaire d’une forme lumineuse qui travaille au fil des heures les volumes et les reliefs de la cour. Vortex propose un jeu subtil qui possède le pouvoir de dévoiler la beauté de l’architecture en la baignant d’obscurité.
The installation wants to introduce a dialogue between the immateriality of the light and the physical presence of the architecture. The project offers a device which prevents the solar radiations from escaping of it : a black hole. The object’s dynamic enters in echo with the place. The courtyard is plunged into the shadow of the vortex. The installation absorbs the daylight and restores it through a bright shape which changes with the hours the volumes and the reliefs of the courtyard. Vortex proposes a game which possesses the power to reveal the beauty of the architecture by putting it in the darkness.

Nicolas Grun et Pierre Laurent sont tous deux diplômés de l’école d’architecture de Strasbourg en 2007. Membres du collectif d’ar’t’chitecte strasbourgeois 3RS, ils projettent d’ouvrir prochainement leur agence d’architecture. Ils expérimentent une architecture transversale, à volume zéro dans une recherche d’intensité plutôt que de densité. L’enjeu est de constituer l’espace sans forcément construire d’édifice. Leurs interventions libèrent la ligne et l’espace en donnant plein pouvoir à la lumière et aux jeux d’échelles. Leur travail est remarqué lors du concours Minimaouse 3, des info-box des journées de l’architecture de Strasbourg, du Bostik art trophy du concours Algéco... Par le biais d’appels à projets semblables à celui du FAV, ils réalisent régulièrement des expérimentations à la marge de l’architecture et de l’art au travers d’installations éphémères lors de festivals.
