Sélim Bennis et Mehdi Daoudi Nejm se rencontrent à l’école spéciale d'architecture de Paris où ils obtiennent leurs diplômes d'architecture en 2015. L'architecture qu'ils cherchent à développer se veut être une architecture qui fait sens. Partant d'une démarche souvent instinctive quant à l'approche de leurs projets, ils essayent de développer une architecture innovante où la sensibilité et l'esthétique sont au service de leur réflexion. Ayant tous deux eu des parcours divers en agences, passant de la grosse structure d'architecture à la petite agence de design, Selim et Mehdi aiment croire que l'architecture n'est pas une fin en soi, mais belle et bien une ouverture sur des thématiques plus large, leur permettant de s'exprimer sur différents formats, quitte à parfois sortir du cadre strict du métier d'architecte. En parallèle de leur travail en agence, ils tentent de développer une réflexion sur le croisement entre objet et architecture notamment à travers la participation à des workshops, concours et appels à candidature.
Sélim Bennis and Mehdi Daoudi Nejm met at their school of architecture E.S.A in Paris where they graduated in 2015. The architecture they are eager to develop tends to be an architecture which makes sense. Starting from an often instinctive reasoning as to the approach of their projects, they try to develop an innovative architecture where sensitiveness and aesthetics serve their reflection. Both Selim and Mehdi have different experiences in agencies, from the huge office of architecture to the small design agency and they therefore believe that architecture isn’t an end in itself, but a genuine openness to larger themes. Thus, they express themselves on various formats and they sometimes go beyond their job as architect. In parallel to their job in agency, they try to develop a reflection on the association between object and architecture, particularly through their involvement in diverse workshops, competitions and application calls.

Le but est de traverser l'installation, guidé par votre choix, au fil des "portes" que vous poussez. La sobriété et la pureté de l'installation se veulent refléter un certain respect du bâtiment qui l'encadre. Le but est de venir de manière légèrement neutre mais visiblement massive, remplir le vide propre à une cours. Le dispositif interroge la fonction même d’une cour d’hôtel particulier. Son caractère de point de passage est exacerbé, poussé à l’extrême. Il s'agit de rendre compte, de façon expérimentale, que la répétition d'un module simple en architecture permet d'aboutir à une émotion vive. Notre idée est en effet d'attirer la curiosité du visiteur, de l'inciter à s'immiscer dans un espace répétitif et anxiogène. L'installation devient comme un labyrinthe sans entrée et sans sortie créant chez le visiteur un allongement de la sensation du temps, il aura l'impression de se perdre, ou qu’il n'en sortira jamais.

The goal is to cross the installation, guided by your choice, over the "doors" you push. The sobriety and purity of the installation are meant to reflect a certain respect for the building that frames it. The goal is, in a slightly neutral but visibly massive way, to fill the emptiness specific to a courtyard. The installation questions the function of a particular hotel courtyard. Its characteristic as a waypoint is exacerbated, pushed to the extreme. It is meant to make people aware, in an experimental way that the repetition of a simple module in architecture can lead to a real thrill. Our idea is to attract the curiosity of the visitors, to incite them to sneak into a repetitive and stressful space. The installation becomes an endless labyrinth, with no entry nor exit, making the visitors feel as if time was extending, with the impression of getting lost or that they will never get out. However, since the exercise is not binding, it doesn’t block nor extend the distances to walk between the different accesses.
