LE COLLECTIF DE LA FOURCHETTE - La fourchette est un outil créatif à quatre têtes permettantd’attraper les éléments nutritifs essentiels à l’imagination, afin d’alimenter l’espace collectif architectural. Ils proviennent des quatre coins du Québec et gradueront ensemble en 2014. D’ici là, ils s’entendent bien au moins sur une chose : gaver leur soif d’apprendre et fertiliser le champ de leurs compétences. Leur amour des plaisirs simples les pousse à explorer le potentiel des choses banales, et ainsi, recréer l’émerveillement, extraire l’extraordinaire. L’architecture reste le plat principal mais l’urbanisme et le design sont des assaisonnements incontournables. Imprégnés par une année goûteuse et colorée à parcourir l’Europe grâce au Programme International de l’Université Laval, les quatre amis reviennent au Québec plus déterminés que jamais à changer le monde, une intervention à la fois. Voyages, projets, concours, défis, implications communautaires et académiques, ils aiment s’en mettre beaucoup sous la dent.
LE COLLECTIF DE LA FOURCHETTE - The fork is a creative tool with four heads allowing to catch the essential nourishing elements in the imagination, to feed the architectural collective space. They come from four corners of Quebec and will be graduated together in 2014. In the meantime, they get along well at least on a thing : fill up their thirst to learn and fertilize the field of their skills. Their love of simple pleasures urges them to investigate the potential of the commonplace things, and so, to recreate the delight, to extract the extraordinary. The architecture remains the main course but the town planning and the design are inescapable seasonings. Filled by one flavourful and colored year to cross Europe due to the International Program of the University Laval, four friends return to Quebec more determined than ever to change the world, an intervention at the same time. Journeys, projects, competition, challenges, community and academic implications, they like putting it themselves under the tooth a lot.

Le thème de la surprise a pour le collectif de la Fourchette une évocation et une signification unique lorsqu’on l’associe au territoire québécois et à ses quatre saisons. Dans ce contexte, le collectif fait découvrir un événement bien propre à l’identité québécoise, la première neige. L’événement se répète immanquablement à chaque année et pourtant la surprise perdure ; la surprise d’ouvrir les yeux sur un paysage transformé, dont les formes s’estompent jusqu’à être recouvertes d’un éblouissant tapis blanc. L’étonnement laisse place à l’envie de sortir dans cette lumière vive, à l’envie de jouer dans cette plaine toute blanche et de s’y frayer un chemin. La neige est alors perçue comme une source de plaisir. Le collectif de la Fourchette génère cette surprise dans une cour montpelliéraine en recréant l’éblouissement d’un blanc tapis de neige. La présence de cette couche de neige, pour le visiteur montpelliérain, peut être appréhendée dès son arrivé à la fois comme un plan horizontal, comme un volume et comme un espace. La toile de l’abri temporaire, un élément récurrent du paysage québécois, permet d’importer sous le ciel bleu de Montpellier une texture et une sonorité particulière à l’hiver du Québec. Surélevée du sol à une hauteur de 1,5m (5’-0’’), l’installation invite le visiteur à se pencher sous la toile pour parcourir la cour couverte d’un voile de flocons. Des interstices de lumière l’incitent ensuite à émerger de la tempête. Ébloui et surprit par la blancheur hivernale, il y découvre alors une cour métamorphosée, d’où la beauté de son architecture et l’ouverture vers le ciel sont mis en valeur. Vue de haut, la cour est envahie d’une couverture de neige d’où s’extirpent les têtes des visiteurs. Le projet recrée ce point figé dans le temps à la limite entre le premier regard posé sur la nouvelle neige et la tempête qui s’abat. The topic of the surprise has for the collective of the Fork an evocation and a single meaning when one associates it with the Québécois territory and his four seasons. In this context, the collective makes discover an event quite suitable for the Québécois identity, the first snow. The event is repeated inevitably at each year and yet the surprise continues; the surprise to open the eyes on a transformed landscape, whose forms grow blurred until being covered with one dazzling white carpet. Seen top, the court is invaded of a cover of snow from where the heads of the visitors are extirpated. The project recreates this point solidified in time in extreme cases between the first glance posed on new snow and the storm which falls down.
