Nos chemins se croisent à l’Ecole d’Architecture de Marseille, en 3ème année, dans l'atelier "In Situ". De cette rencontre, naît une démarche architecturale commune où la genèse du projet consiste à mettre en tension trois éléments: « le programme, le site, la matière ». Nos chemins se séparent après l’obtention du diplôme. Benjamin exerce au sein de différentes agences comme Architecture-Studio à Paris ou CAB architectes à Nice, alors que Nicolas débute seul une activité en libéral. En 2005 le binôme se reforme à Nice pour collaborer sur des commandes essentiellement publiques. Le paysage méditerranéen où nous exerçons est la matière première de notre travail. Il s'agit avant tout de développer une écriture architecturale simple et non ostentatoire. C'est cette attitude qui nous permet de faire face à la force de ce paysage Peu importe la complexité ou l’échelle du projet, il s’agit à chaque fois de faire avec les contraintes sans verser dans l’exceptionnel.

We met at the School of Architecture of Marseille, during the 3rd year, in the “In Situ” workshop. A common architectural approach arose then wherein the genesis of the project is to put in tension three elements: “ the program, the site, the material". Our paths diverged after the graduation. Benjamin practices in different agencies like Architecture-Studio in Paris or CAB Architectes in Nice while Nicolas begins alone. In 2005 the binomial reforms in Nice to collaborate mainly on public procurement. Mediterranean landscape in which we operate is the raw material of our work. It is foremost to develop a simple architectural style and not ostentatious. It is this attitude that allows us to cope with the strength of this landscape. Whatever the complexity or the scale of the project, each time it’s to do with the constraints without lapse into the exceptional.
De Raphaël¹ à Magritte², en passant par Blanche Neige et les sept nains de Walt Disney, la pomme, tantôt sensuelle tantôt spirituelle, se charge d’émotion. La pomme considérée comme un cadeau amoureux symbole de la déesse de l'amour, est ici le matériau unique de mise en scène de notre installation. Ce projet fait appel aux différents concepts que sont l’art, le land art et l’architecture. Ce tapis coloré et aromatique, allant du vert au rouge profond, entre en résonance avec l’architecture du lieu.A la fin du festival, les pommes composant cette œuvre sensuelle et éphémère pourront être récupérées et transformées par les visiteurs. Seul restera le plaisir d’avoir crée. Il s’agit de disposer à même le sol pavé de la cour de l’hôtel d’Aurès, un tapis de pommes représentant une lèvre pixélisée pulpeuse et sensuelle, prête à croquer le fruit défendu.

From Raphael to Magritte, through Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Walt Disney, the apple, sometimes sensual sometimes spiritual, is full of emotion. The apple, often seen as the symbol of Venus, the goddess of love, is the only material used in our installation. This project lends itself to art, architecture and landscape. Apples are arranged on the courtyard floor of the Hôtel d’Aurès. This installation depicts luscious and sensual lips ready to bite into the forbidden fruit. The carpet of fruit, moving from green to deep red, resonates with the architecture of the courtyard. At the end of the Festival, apples from this ephemeral work can be taken and used by visitors. All that will remain is the pleasure of having created it.
