Après leurs études à Versailles, Chicago et Lyon, Fanny Dohen et Laurent Bariat ont continué ensemble leur parcours dans l’architecture. Au cours de leur apprentissage, ils ont eu l’occasion de partager des expériences communes permettant d’appréhender la création architecturale de différentes manières. Ainsi, tout au long de ces années, ils ont développé des pensées communes qui les ont amenés aujourd’hui à vouloir collaborer sur des concours d’idées et installations temporaires en créant l’association Cube-A qui, pluridisciplinaire par essence, a pour vocation de promouvoir tout type de créations. Ayant tous deux un intérêt particulier pour le travail de la lumière en architecture, ils ont choisi très tôt des enseignements spécifiques permettant de développer ce thème puis ont continué à le cultiver au long de leur pratique professionnelle. Le Festival des Architectures Vives de Montpellier leur a donné l’excellente occasion d’expérimenter, concevoir et réaliser une installation livrant leur interprétation de la lumière.
After their studies in Versailles, Chicago and Lyon, Fanny Dohen and Laurent Bariat followed together their way in architecture. During their learning, they had the opportunity to share common experiences. So, throughout these years, they developed common thoughts and will. They collaborated on competitions of ideas and temporary installations by creating the association Cube-A which, multidisciplinary by defi nition, promote creations. Having both a particular interest for the light in architecture, they chose very early specific teachings allowing to develop this theme and then, they continued to cultivate it during the professional practice. The Festival of the Lively Architectures of Montpelier gave them the excellent opportunity to experiment, to conceive and to realize an installation delivering their interpretation of the light.

La lumière, révélatrice de volumes et de matières, ne pourrait-elle pas devenir elle-même matière ?... Son passage à l’état physique ne permettrait-il pas d’en révéler toutes ses caractéristiques? Sa cristallisation offrirait la possibilité de composer simultanément avec ces différents phénomènes. C’est au détour d’une porte, entrée d’un lieu inconnu, que la lumière vient prendre corps, jouant de toutes ses nuances, afin de développer un parcours sensible menant progressivement à la découverte d’une cour intérieure. Ce « milieu», où tout est suggéré, diffus, marque le passage progressif d’un espace sombre, où l’on ne perçoit rien à un espace irradié par le haut où tout se dévoile. Finalement, ce dernier devient théâtre d’une mise en scène de réflexions abstraites offrant un regard nouveau sur l’architecture de cet instant caché.

Finally, this place becomes the theater of abstracted reflections offering a new glance on the architecture in this hidden moment.
