Vyà est un terme issu du dialecte savoyard, qui se traduit par conduite, manière d’agir.
Il illustre la manière dont l’atelier aborde la pratique architecturale :
Une architecture qui, sans négliger la recherche théorique, cherche avant tout à se révéler par sa réalisation. Un ancrage, une compréhension des territoires d’intervention et une reconnaissance de l’intelligence des architectures vernaculaires et locales comme matière première de notre travail. Une attention aux détails, aux systèmes constructifs, aux matériaux, en relation avec le terrain d’intervention. L’atelier Vyà ambitionne d’apporter une réponse sourcée simple et rationnelle aux besoins particuliers d’un espace ou d’un territoire.
Vyà is a term from the Savoyard dialect, which translates as conduct, way of acting.It illustrates how the studio approaches architectural practice:An architecture which, without neglecting theoretical research, seeks above all to reveal itself through its realization.An anchoring, an understanding of the territories of intervention and a recognition of the intelligence of vernacular and local architectures as the raw material of our work.Attention to detail, construction systems, materials, in relation to the field of intervention.The Vyà workshop aims to provide a simple and rational sourced response to the specific needs of a space or territory.
Résultant de la confrontation des temporalités au sein d’un même espace - celle de l’échelle de la condition humaine et celle de l’échelle, plus vaste, de la matière - la permanence en architecture se révèle comme une illusion, établissant de fait l’impermanence de toute choses.
L’installation se propose de mettre au jour cette illusion au travers d’un archétype de l’espace domestique, exprimé en diptyque :
- Par l’emploi d’une forme géométrique stable et d’un matériau à dégradation lente, le cylindre incarne une supposée perpétualité.
- L’habillage de la structure par trois marqueurs de l’imaginaire domestique - le rideau de perles de buis, la tomette, l’assise en bois – soumis aux actions extérieures, extirpe la référence a un environnement mémoriel passé et la distord dans le présent, incarnant un référentiel du temps court et de sa volatilité.
La conflictualité des temporalités s’incarne ici dans une forme essentialisée, confrontant le visiteur à sa propre impermanence et à l’illusion de la permanence de son environnement : l’architecture se révèle alors dans toute ses dimensions.
Resulting from the confrontation of temporalities within the same space - the one of the human condition, and the one of the larger scale of the architectural material - permanence in architecture is revealed as an illusion, thus establishing the impermanence of all things.
The installation aims to bring forth this illusion through an archetype of the domestic space, expressed a diptych:
- By using a stable geometric shape and a slowly degrading material, the cylinder embodies a supposed perpetuality.
- The covering of the structure with three markers of the domestic imagination - the curtain of boxwood beads, the floor tiles, the wooden seat - subjected to external actions, uproots a memorial environment and propels it into the present, incarnating a short term referential.
The conflictual cohabitation of temporalities is here embodied in an essentialized form, confronting the visitor to his own impermanence and the illusion of the permanence of his environment: the architecture is then revealed in all its dimensions.
